Marine Parts Exchange Inc

Marine Technician Mechanic

Job Description

Marine Parts Exchange is seeking full time or part time qualified, marine service technicians / mechanics. Target start date of early to mid December. Flexible, make your own hours including nights and weekends. We are a used marine parts store focused on providing used parts for all brands of Outboard Motors, primarily through our EBay page. This is NOT a repair shop. We are NOT open to the public. In this role, you will be disassembling used Outboard Motors of all sizes in addition to testing and cataloging all relevant parts. Ideal candidate is a self starter who thrives in a self directed, limited supervision environment. Tools are provided. Well insulated shop with air conditioning and heat. Pay is commensurate with experience and efficiency. Marine- specific experience is preferred but not required. This role requires the ability to work resourcefully, quickly and efficiently. Technical mastery of Outboard Motor repair work is not required. The outboard motors we work on vary widely in design , and there is not always a "how to" video or service manual explaining how to efficiently remove or test any given component. You must be comfortable finding timely solutions to any number of challenges, such as broken bolts, corrosion issues, tight spaces, and defective / non working parts. Management will set clear expectations for output on a weekly basis, which may be adjusted in light of unforeseen issues. However, as a 1099 Independent Contractor, the question of "how" and "when" the work is completed will be at your discretion. Because these motors belong to Marine Parts Exchange and not customers, you are encouraged to explore any number of time-saving solutions , and a certain level of breakage is a non-issue, so long as the overall output is strong and timely. If you excel at mechanical work but struggle with the pressures of managing retail customers, this is the role for you. A minimum of two years of experience in the boat/marine service industry or related industry is encouraged but not required. Related industries include marine, automotive, small engine, motorcycle diesel, heavy equipment, RV, etc , or certification from a Technical School/ Institute. We may also consider "self-taught" individuals or those with experience on their own personal projects on a case-by-case basis. This is an active position which requires you to communicate and maneuver through the facilities and lifting up heavy objects from time to time.
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 6.0 - 10.0 per week
Work Location:
In person
