Job Description

The Boat Shop on Lake Wallenpaupack, a Boating Industry Top 100 dealer is looking for a full time marine technician. Marine experience is not required, but we prefer a candidate with marine, diesel, or automotive experience. All applicants must have a valid driver's license, their own tools, and either a current boating safety certificate or must complete prior to starting date. Certification from Volvo Penta, Yamaha Outboards, Yamaha Waverunners, Indmar, PCM, Suzuki, or Evinrude preferred, but not required. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Inspecting and testing boats, personal watercraft, and trailers. Completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, replacing filters, outdrive maintenance. Maintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to owner complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage. Rigging and set up of new units. Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems. Diagnosis of issues with computer programs as well as standard diagnostic tools. Maintaining vehicle appearance by cleaning up upon completion of work. Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs. Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications. Help organization retain the results needed by completing tasks as deemed necessary by management.
Other skills necessary are:
Ability to lift over 100lb, Dependability, Persistence, Time Management, Attendance, Independence, Safety Management, Problem Solving, Dealing with Complexity, Analyzing Information, Working both alone and with a team, Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able and willing to work weekends during the summer season (rotational weekend schedule available). Pay based on experience. Sign on bonus paid out after 60 days of work.
