- 33 per hour, based on experience Massimo Marine is seeking an experienced Marine Rigger / Mercury Outboard Technician to rig and prepare new pontoon and tritoon boats for customer delivery.
The primary responsibility of this position will be completing the boat-rigging process from the helm to the stern, including Mercury outboard installation, steering, controls, electrical connections, instrumentation and accessories. The ideal candidate will also understand the complete construction and setup of pontoon and tritoon boats and be capable of identifying and correcting issues throughout the vessel. This is a hands-on position for an experienced marine professional who takes pride in producing safe, clean and properly functioning boats. Primary Responsibilities Install and properly mount Mercury outboard engines on pontoon and tritoon boats. Install and connect Mercury throttle and shift controls, control cables and related components. Install hydraulic or mechanical steering systems and verify proper operation. Complete helm wiring, engine harness connections, battery systems, gauges, switches and electrical accessories. Install and configure Mercury SmartCraft gauges and related instrumentation when applicable. Rig fuel systems, fuel lines, batteries, bilge pumps and other marine systems. Install depth finders, stereos, lighting, power accessories and optional equipment. Route, secure and protect wiring, hoses and cables using professional marine-rigging practices. Verify correct engine height, alignment, propeller selection and installation. Perform engine startup, system checks, programming and operational testing. Diagnose and correct electrical, fuel, steering, control and installation issues. Inspect boats for workmanship, safety and quality before shipment or customer delivery. Document completed work and identify any parts, warranty or quality concerns. Assist with complete boat setup, assembly and finishing when required. Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area. Support and train less-experienced rigging and assembly employees when needed. Required Qualifications Previous experience rigging pontoon, tritoon or other recreational boats. Working knowledge of Mercury outboard engines and marine-rigging systems. Experience installing outboard controls, steering systems, wiring harnesses, gauges and batteries. Ability to read wiring diagrams, installation instructions and technical documentation. Strong understanding of 12-volt marine electrical systems. Ability to diagnose and correct rigging, wiring and installation problems. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment and marine diagnostic tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and complete boats within production deadlines. Ability to safely lift, move and install marine components. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Mercury Marine certification or factory training. Experience using Mercury diagnostic software and SmartCraft systems. Experience rigging complete pontoon or tritoon boats from initial assembly through final inspection. Experience with hydraulic steering systems, including SeaStar or comparable systems. Experience conducting water tests, engine setup and final delivery inspections. Welding, fabrication, fiberglass, upholstery or general boat-repair experience. Experience supervising or training marine riggers or production employees. Work Schedule Full-time position. Monday through Friday, with overtime or occasional weekend work as production requirements dictate. This is an on-site position at our Garland, Texas marine facility. Compensation and Benefits $28
- 33 per hour, based on demonstrated experience and qualifications.
