Marine Engine Technician (Inboard & Outboard)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Marine Engine Technician for an established marine service company. We are specifically looking for someone with strong hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing both inboard and outboard marine engines. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, enjoys solving mechanical problems, and has extensive knowledge of marine engine systems. Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and service inboard and outboard marine engines
  • Perform complete engine diagnostics using diagnostic equipment
  • Repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, ignition, and cooling system issues
  • Perform routine maintenance including tune-ups, oil changes, impellers, lower unit service, and winterization
  • Inspect boats and identify mechanical problems
  • Read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Install and replace marine components and engine accessories
  • Test engines after repairs to verify proper operation
  • Prepare accurate repair notes and parts lists
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate repair recommendations professionally
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of marine engine repair experience required
  • Hands-on experience repairing BOTH inboard and outboard engines is
REQUIRED
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience performing repairs independently
  • Ability to read technical manuals and service documentation
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass a background check Candidates with experience working on any of the following are strongly encouraged to apply: Mercury MerCruiser Volvo Penta Yamaha Suzuki Honda Marine Evinrude Johnson PCM Indmar Crusader Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds Frequently stand, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors Overtime may be required
Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour Application Question(s): Do you have at least 3 years of professional experience repairing marine engines? Do you have hands-on experience repairing BOTH inboard and outboard marine engines? Which marine engine brands have you worked on? Are you able to independently diagnose and repair marine engine problems without supervision? Which repairs have you personally performed? Have you used marine diagnostic software or diagnostic equipment? Do you have your own set of mechanic tools? Are you comfortable commuting to Livingston, TX? Are you available to start at any time?
