Job Description

Mechanical Designer - ASME Pressure Vessels and Process Equipment Paget Equipment is a family-owned manufacturer of custom ASME pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and process equipment serving Fortune 500 companies in renewable energy, chemical, mining, oil & gas, and water/wastewater industries since 1976. We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to create 3D models, fabrication drawings, and manufacturing documentation for custom industrial equipment using SolidWorks. This position works closely with Engineering, Production, and Project Management to develop practical, manufacturable designs for complex fabricated equipment. Competitive salary based on experience. Family-owned company established in 1976 Stable, growing manufacturer of custom industrial equipment Work on complex ASME pressure vessels and heat exchangers Collaborative team environment with direct shop interaction Competitive pay, 5% 401(k) match, bonus opportunities, and strong benefits No travel required Key Responsibilities Interpret ASME engineering calculations, specifications, customer drawings, sketches, and project requirements and incorporate them into detailed designs using SolidWorks. Apply applicable requirements of ASME Section VIII, TEMA, customer specifications, and Paget Equipment design standards. Design components and assemblies with consideration for manufacturability, welding, machining, material availability, fit-up, assembly, inspection, and cost. Work closely with Engineering to ensure drawings and models accurately reflect engineering calculations and design requirements. Collaborate directly with Production, Welder Fabricators, and Machinists to identify and resolve design, fit-up, fabrication, and assembly issues. Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure materials, components, and purchased items are properly specified and meet project requirements. Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, material specifications, BOM accuracy, and manufacturability. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications 3+ years of mechanical design experience. Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Project Management, Quality, and other departments. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a custom fabrication or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment. Familiarity with pressure vessels, heat exchangers and/or process equipment using ASME Section VIII, TEMA, API, or other applicable industry standards. Experience with pressure vessel design software such as
COMPRESS, PV
Elite, or similar software. Experience with sheet metal, weldments, large assemblies, configurations, and complex mechanical models in SolidWorks. Experience working directly with welders, fabricators, machinists, and production personnel to resolve manufacturing issues.
