Job Description

ATSSA Certified FlaggerJob Summary Call or TEXT for more information: HireQuest Direct of Goodyear - (623) 444-2377 HireQuest Direct of Mesa - (480) 207-1828 We are seeking dependable and safety-focused ATSSA Certified Flaggers to join our team. The Flagger is responsible for directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic through active work zones while ensuring the safety of construction crews, motorists, and the public. This position requires strict adherence to ATSSA standards, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), company safety policies, and applicable state and local regulations. ATSSA flaggers play a critical role in maintaining safe and efficient traffic flow in roadway, utility, and construction work zones. Essential Responsibilities Safely direct traffic using approved stop/slow paddles, hand signals, and communication devices. Maintain safe and efficient traffic flow through work zones. Follow all ATSSA, MUTCD, DOT, and company traffic control procedures. Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and fellow flaggers using radios or other communication devices. Monitor work zones for changing traffic conditions and potential hazards. Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents immediately. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with the public. Perform daily safety inspections of traffic control equipment. Assist with general site cleanup and other duties as assigned when traffic control is not required. Work safely in changing weather conditions and around moving vehicles and heavy equipment. Qualifications Current ATSSA Flagger Certification (required). Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Previous traffic control or construction experience preferred but not required. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong communication skills. Commitment to workplace safety and professionalism. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Ability to remain alert and focused in high-traffic environments. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday. Work Schedule Full-time and overtime opportunities available. Day, night, weekend, and emergency shifts may be required based on project needs.
