Job Description
Join our Road Maintenance Team for the 2026 Winter Season! We are looking for individuals with a California Class B operator's license with a tanker endorsement to assist with road maintenance utilizing a variety of medium and heavy road maintenance equipment! This critical role will assist with minor road repairs, brush clearing, traffic control and other duties as assigned.
PROOF OF VALID CLASS B OPERATOR'S LICENSE ISSUED BY A STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION . PLEASE ATTACH PROOF OF YOUR VALID LICENSE TO YOUR APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED.
Ideal candidates will have:
Knowledge of:
Safe work practices Geography and road names of a Nevada County road maintenance district Methods, procedures, tools and materials used in the repair and maintenance of roads Provisions of the California Vehicle Code and safety practices and procedures relating to the operation of medium and heavy road maintenance equipment on streets and roads Skills in: Learning to maintain and make minor repairs on roads Performing physical labor requiring strength, manual dexterity, and agility Understanding and carry out oral and written instructions Reading and comprehending equipment operation manuals, performance standards and job instructions Writing and completing vehicle accident, industrial injury, and safety inspection reports Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work Why Nevada County? Completion of 12th grade or equivalent, and two years of experience in public works or construction and maintenance involving the operation of medium and heavy road maintenance equipment such as graders, loaders, backhoes and 3-axle trucks. Possession of a valid Class B operator's license issued by a State Department of Motor Vehicles with tanker endorsement. If no tanker endorsement, must attain tanker endorsement within first six months of employment.
