The Town of Mashpee Human Resources Department welcomes applications for per diem (on call as needed up to 19 hours/week) Civilian Traffic Controllers; $85.00/hour for details (minimum pay four (4) hours per shift); $25.00/hour to attend required training each fiscal year; $37.0791/hour for parking enforcement and special event assignments. These positions work on call as needed. Positions open until filled.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Previous experience in traffic control, public safety, construction flagging, customer service, or a related field is preferred but not required. Preference shall be given to any person who has resigned or retired in "good standing" from any municipal, county or state law enforcement agency and is recognized as a duly "certified" police officer from the state in which they served (copy of certification is required); or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess and maintain a valid MA driver's license (Class D). Must successfully pass a C.O.R.I. background check.
Responsibilities:
Performs non-sworn public safety duties involving the direction and control of vehicle and pedestrian traffic at assigned details to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic throughout the Town as needed; works at assigned road construction sites, public events, and other locations requiring traffic management. Patrols assigned Town properties including beaches and boat ramps, streets, parking lots, municipal properties, and other designated areas to enforce parking regulations and municipal bylaws. This position does not possess law enforcement authority and does not perform police functions beyond those specifically assigned.
