Overview Join our dynamic construction team as a Traffic Control Flagger and play a vital role in ensuring safety and efficiency on construction projects. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for directing traffic around active work zones, safeguarding workers and the public, and maintaining smooth flow in high-traffic areas. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create a safe environment for everyone involved in civil infrastructure development. Responsibilities Set up and operate traffic control devices such as signs, cones, and barriers to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through construction zones Use hand signals, flags, and stop/slow paddles to direct traffic according to project requirements Monitor work zones continuously to identify potential hazards or unsafe conditions, taking immediate corrective action Communicate effectively with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to ensure clear understanding of traffic instructions Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, to prevent accidents and injuries Assist with the setup and removal of traffic control equipment at the beginning and end of shifts Support heavy equipment operation when necessary, including dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, front loader truck, dump truck, and paving machinery Skills Strong knowledge of traffic control for work zones and highway maintenance procedures Experience with heavy equipment operation such as dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, grader operation, and power tools Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery like Caterpillar equipment and welding techniques Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely in outdoor environments Construction site experience with a focus on road construction and civil infrastructure projects in Familiarity with working on construction projects involving heavy equipment like dump trucks and front loader trucks Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with team members and the public Knowledge of safety protocols including OSHA standards and FMCSA regulations for commercial truck driving This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of impactful infrastructure projects while honing your skills in traffic management and heavy equipment operation.
