Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Traffic Control Flagger and play a vital role in ensuring safety and smooth operations at roadway construction sites. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for directing traffic, safeguarding workers, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols. Your proactive approach will help create a secure environment for both construction crews and the traveling public, contributing to efficient project completion and community safety. Responsibilities Set up and operate traffic control devices such as cones, signs, flagging paddles, and barricades to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through work zones. Direct traffic flow using clear hand signals or flagging tools, ensuring adherence to project plans and safety standards. Communicate effectively with construction teams, drivers, and pedestrians to provide instructions and updates on traffic conditions. Monitor work zones continuously to identify potential hazards or unsafe behaviors, taking prompt corrective actions. Assist with the setup of temporary traffic signals or detours as needed for roadway modifications or maintenance activities. Follow all safety protocols, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, to prevent accidents and ensure compliance. Support other construction activities by assisting with manual handling tasks, setting up signage, or supporting heavy equipment operation when trained. Qualifications Previous outdoor work experience in traffic control, construction sites, or civil infrastructure projects preferred. Ability to work safely throughout long shifts in various weather conditions. Strong understanding of safety protocols related to construction zones and heavy machinery operation.
