Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Traffic Control Flagger to ensure the safety of construction crews, motorists, pedestrians, and the public in active work zones. This vital role involves directing traffic flow, setting up safety signs and barriers, and maintaining clear communication with construction teams to facilitate smooth and secure operations on various construction projects. The ideal candidate controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects by performing the following duties: Responsibilities Discuss traffic routing plan types and location of control points with supervisor Distributes traffic control signs and markers along the site in designated patters. Directs movement of traffic through the site using hands, flags, or signs Warns construction workers when approaching vehicles fail to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites Records license number of traffic control violators for police Gives hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for Flagger at opposite end of site, signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic Requirements Prior outdoor work experience in construction or traffic control preferred Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or similar machinery is a plus Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely using hand tools and power tools Familiarity with road construction processes including highway maintenance and paving techniques Understanding of safety standards including FMCSA regulations for commercial truck driving and heavy equipment operation Strong communication skills for effective flagging signals and coordination with team members Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods Valid certification in traffic control flagging or willingness to obtain upon hire is preferred Join our team as a Traffic Control Flagger and be a key part of building safer roads and communities!
