Job Description

Job Summary Join our team as a Traffic Control Flagger and play a vital role in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow around active construction zones and roadway projects. In this dynamic position, you will be responsible for directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting heavy equipment operators to keep construction sites secure and efficient. This paid role offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on civil infrastructure projects, contributing to highway maintenance, road construction, and roadway improvements. Your proactive approach and attention to safety will help protect workers and the public while supporting the successful completion of critical infrastructure projects. Duties Safely direct traffic around construction zones using standardized hand signals, signs, and flagging equipment in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Communicate clearly with drivers, pedestrians, and construction crews to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Assist heavy equipment operators such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks by providing safe traffic control measures during machinery movement. Set up and maintain traffic control devices including cones, barriers, signs, and flagging stations to delineate work zones effectively. Monitor work zones continuously for hazards or unsafe conditions; respond promptly to incidents or emergencies. Follow all safety procedures related to roadway construction, heavy equipment operation, welding, power tools use, manual handling, and outdoor work environments. Document daily activities through reports on traffic flow, safety concerns, or incidents encountered during shifts. Skills Proven experience in traffic control for work zones or roadway construction projects. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, grader operation, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and power tools. Familiarity with FMCSA regulations governing commercial truck driving and safety standards for highway maintenance. Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery such as Caterpillar equipment or similar brands. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Skilled in manual handling techniques and the use of hand tools required for setting up traffic control devices. Strong understanding of road construction processes including paving and civil infrastructure roles. Excellent communication skills for clear signaling and coordination with team members and drivers. Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols at all times during outdoor work activities involving heavy machinery or roadway operations. Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
