In this energetic role, you will be responsible for directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic around active work zones, helping to protect workers and the public alike. Your keen attention to safety protocols and excellent communication skills will contribute to successful project completion while maintaining a secure environment for all. Duties Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as signs, cones, and barriers to clearly guide drivers and pedestrians through work zones Direct traffic using standardized hand signals and flagging equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations Monitor work zones continuously to identify potential hazards or unsafe conditions, reporting issues promptly Assist in the installation and removal of temporary traffic control infrastructure in coordination with construction crews Communicate effectively with team members, drivers, pedestrians, and emergency responders to facilitate safe passage around construction sites Adhere strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and local traffic control standards during all operations Support heavy equipment operation activities including dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, dump truck, front loader truck, and paving machinery when needed Qualifications Prior experience in traffic control for work zones or construction site experience is highly preferred Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, grader operation, and utility locating Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, welding, and mechanical knowledge beneficial for supporting construction tasks Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely throughout outdoor work environments Understanding of highway maintenance practices and civil infrastructure projects in a construction setting Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence and working in compliance with OSHA standards Valid certifications related to traffic control or flagging are a plus; willingness to obtain necessary certifications if not already held Join us in creating safer roads and supporting essential infrastructure projects!
