Alaska Directional LLC Position Overview The Journeyman Telecom Lineman performs outside plant aerial and underground telecommunications line construction across Alaska Directional projects statewide. The work covers pole framing and erection, guying and anchoring, aerial strand and cable placement, and underground duct and cable installation by trenching and plowing, and requires the ability to work independently in remote or challenging environments, aloft and from aerial lifts, in variable Alaska field conditions. Essential Job Responsibilities Pole and Aerial Construction Frame and erect telecommunication poles and structures, including installing cross arms, hardware, and fixtures. Make, install, and pull guys, and set anchors for pole support. Dig pole and anchor holes and set, drop, and tamp poles by hand or with mechanical diggers under line foreman supervision. Climb poles and work aloft, and operate aerial lifts to perform elevated line work. String and install messenger strand, and place and lash aerial telecommunications cable, both copper and fiber. Place figure-eight (self-supporting) and internal-messenger aerial cable. Ground poles, towers, and structures, and install suspended communication equipment. Erect telecommunication towers and steel structures as part of a constituted line crew. Underground and Cable Placement Hand-dig trenches for duct and cable, and place duct and raceway. Excavate and trench cable and duct into easements and rights-of-way. Expose existing facilities in easements and rights-of-way while placing new facilities. Place fish wire and pull cables and wires through underground raceway. Blow (air-jet) fiber optic cable into duct with various placing equipment. Assist with cable placement and terminations at handholes and structures as assigned. Support cable splicing operations within capability under the OTA assignment-flexibility provisions. Equipment, Field Operations, and HSE Operate line trucks, wire-stringing trucks, bucket trucks, and cable-pulling equipment as a qualified journeyman lineman or operator. Operate trenching and earth-boring machines, excavators, dozers, skid steers, cable plows and drop/service plows, Larson fiber-placing trailers, air compressors, and tractor/trailer for equipment transport. Perform traffic barricading and flagging as required. When assigned as foreman or senior foreman, complete and submit accurate daily field reports by the end of each shift. Perform repair, maintenance, and dismantling of lines, structures, cable, and equipment. Work in accordance with NESC clearances, OSHA 1910.268 telecommunications requirements, and AKD HSE policies and project safety plans. Support and maintain a zero-incident safety culture, and participate in incident investigations and corrective actions as required. Preferred Qualifications Journeyman lineman standing under an

IBEW/NECA

agreement, or documented equivalent experience. Aerial lift and pole-climbing certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, and current First Aid/CPR. Prior remote Alaska OSP or FTTH construction experience.

Union Requirements This position is open to qualified non-union linemen. Alaska Directional employs the selected candidate under the IBEW Local 1547 Outside Telecommunications Agreement (OTA), in the Journeyman Technician classification (Telephone Lineman). IBEW Local 1547 administers referral and classification under the agreement's referral procedure. Wages, benefits, hours of work, per diem, and working conditions are governed by the current OTA, at the Journeyman Technician wage scale. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must become and remain a member of IBEW Local 1547 by the eighth (8th) day following the date of hire, in accordance with the agreement. Out-of-work registration, referral group placement, and any required journeyman examination or qualification are determined solely by IBEW Local 1547 under the OTA. Payment of applicable union initiation fees and dues as required under the agreement. AKD expects the successful candidate to pursue IBEW Local 1547 journeyman certification, including sitting the journeyman's examination as soon as eligibility allows, and to advance referral standing under the OTA as residency and hour requirements are met. Examination eligibility, scheduling, and group placement are determined solely by IBEW Local 1547. Required Qualifications Minimum 6,000 hours of documented outside plant line construction experience across aerial and underground telecommunications work (roughly three years full-time equivalent). Proficiency in pole framing, guying and anchoring, and pole erection. Proficiency in aerial strand and cable placement, including lashing copper and fiber cable. Proficiency in underground duct and cable placement, including cable pulling. Proficiency in operating the heavy equipment associated with line work. Ability to climb poles and work aloft, and to operate aerial lifts. Ability to work within a unionized (IBEW Local 1547) environment. Ability to travel to and work at remote Alaska sites on a rotational or camp basis as scheduled. Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment and project-required screening. Class A CDL, which covers towing the reel, pole, and equipment trailers used in line work, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire as a condition of continued employment.
