We're growing and are looking to hire multiple Utility Locators to join our team! If you enjoy working outdoors, travel opportunities, and being part of projects that support critical infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you. As a Utility Locator, you'll play an essential role in protecting underground utility infrastructure by accurately locating and marking utility lines before excavation begins. Every day brings a new job site, new challenges, and opportunities to work alongside contractors, utility companies, and construction professionals across the region. What You'll Do As a Utility Locator, you will: Locate and mark underground utility lines using electromagnetic locating equipment. Identify underground electric, gas, water, sewer, storm, telecommunications, fiber optic, and cable television facilities. Follow APWA color code standards when marking underground utilities. Read and interpret utility maps, records, and field documentation. Respond to 811/One Call locate requests within required timelines. Help prevent utility damage by providing accurate utility markings before excavation. Document completed work using electronic ticketing systems and mobile applications. Maintain detailed field notes, photographs, and daily reports. Safely operate company vehicles and locating equipment. Communicate professionally with contractors, utility owners, municipalities, and property owners. Perform quality checks to ensure accurate and complete utility markings. Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures. Participate in emergency and priority locate requests as needed. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Strong attention to detail. Good communication and organizational skills. Basic computer and smartphone/tablet proficiency. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Previous utility locating experience. Experience responding to 811/One Call tickets. Construction, utility, or excavation experience. Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays. Experience operating electromagnetic utility locating equipment. Ability to read utility maps and construction drawings. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred but not required). Physical Requirements Walk several miles daily over uneven terrain. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods. Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and other weather conditions. Work safely around roadways, construction sites, and active utility infrastructure. Why Join Our Team?
