Based on experience and skill level About Monet Interior Monet Interior is a growing custom cabinetry, closet, and interior remodeling company serving high-end residential clients throughout the greater Austin area. We specialize in custom storage systems, cabinetry, closets, built-ins, luxury finishes, and detailed installation work. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking workshop contractor who can become a trusted right hand in the shop. This role is ideal for someone with some hands-on construction, cabinetry, woodworking, warehouse, or installation experience who wants to grow into a more skilled position over time. Position Overview The Workshop Assistant will help with day-to-day shop operations, material handling, cabinet and closet preparation, organization, loading, assembly support, and general production tasks. This is a hands-on role with a good amount of manual labor. The right person does not need to know everything on day one. We are willing to train the right candidate. However, they must be dependable, teachable, physically capable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-moving shop environment. There is potential for this role to grow into installation work for the right person.
Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with cabinet, closet, and storage system preparation Loading and unloading materials, parts, panels, hardware, and tools Organizing shop inventory, hardware, supplies, and project materials Helping prepare job carts and materials for upcoming installations Reading basic project notes, labels, measurements, and part lists Assembling cabinet or closet components under direction Sanding, cleaning, labeling, sorting, and staging materials Helping maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop Assisting with tool setup, basic shop tasks, and production support Picking up or delivering materials as needed Supporting installers or shop leads when additional help is needed Following instructions carefully and asking questions when something is unclear Taking photos, documenting work, and helping track project readiness when needed Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate: Has some experience with construction, cabinetry, woodworking, remodeling, installation, warehouse work, or hands-on trade work Is comfortable with physical labor and working on their feet Can lift and carry heavy materials safely Has basic tool knowledge or is willing to learn Pays attention to detail Shows up on time and communicates clearly Can work independently once given clear direction Takes pride in clean, organized work Is willing to learn Monet Interior's process and standards Wants the opportunity to grow into cabinet, closet, or finish installation work Requirements Must be legally able to work as a 1099 independent contractor Must have reliable transportation Must be able to lift heavy materials and perform physical work Must be comfortable working in a shop environment Must be dependable, professional, and respectful Must be willing to follow safety practices Basic experience with drills, saws, hand tools, measuring tapes, and shop equipment is preferred Cabinetry, closet, trim, carpentry, or remodeling experience is a plus Installation experience is a plus, but not required Work Environment This role is primarily based in the workshop, with possible opportunities to assist on job sites as needed. Work may include lifting panels, moving cabinets, organizing hardware, preparing materials, cleaning, assembling components, and helping keep production moving. This is not a desk job. It is physical, hands-on work. Contractor Status This is a 1099 independent contractor position. This role does not include employee benefits, payroll withholding, or guaranteed hours. Contractor will be responsible for their own taxes, tools as applicable, transportation, and insurance requirements as agreed upon.
Pay:
$12.00 - $25.00 per hour
