Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the sterilization, decontamination, and proper handling of surgical instruments and medical equipment to maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and patient safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures, medical terminology, and infection control protocols. Your expertise will directly contribute to the efficiency of surgical operations and the overall quality of patient care. Responsibilities Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and medical equipment in accordance with established protocols. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, ensuring timely replenishment and proper documentation. Reprocess endoscopes and other specialized medical devices following manufacturer guidelines and infection control standards. Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and equipment maintenance activities. Apply aseptic techniques during instrument handling to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with infection prevention policies. Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure all necessary sterile supplies are prepared for procedures. Conduct routine quality checks on sterilized equipment to verify proper sterilization cycles and identify any potential issues. Follow strict infection prevention management practices to minimize healthcare-associated infections. Stay updated on advancements in sterile processing techniques, medical equipment operation, and healthcare infection control standards. Experience Prior experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment is highly preferred. Knowledge of sterilization methods for medical instruments, including autoclaving and chemical sterilization processes. Familiarity with anatomy and physiology to accurately identify instruments and understand their use in various procedures. Experience with inventory management systems specific to healthcare settings. Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures and instrument handling. Certification in sterile processing or central sterile services is advantageous but not mandatory. Demonstrated commitment to infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare safety standards. Pay:
$30.00 - $32.00 per hour
