As a primary duty, the Production Tech I is responsible for constructing quality UL397, UL397A, UL508A, UL698A, and UL891 panels. For the first 6 months, the Production Tech I will be assessed to determine cultural and performance fit and thus retention at the plant. To this end, the Production Tech I is expected to heed the feedback provided through the Quality Management System (QMS), the Production Foreman, and the lead technicians. The Trainer will be responsible for ensuring the Production Tech I is provided the appropriate training to develop basic skills in panel construction. The QMS promotes continuous improvement in the manufacturing process and refinement of technician "Craftsmanship," an Expanse core value. The constructed panels must conform to the customers' requirements, Underwriter's Laboratories (UL), the National Electric Code (NEC), and company standards. Other duties the Production Tech I are expected to perform include: moving parts and finished products, preparing and packaging products for shipment, delivering finished panels to local customers, pickup of parts and material from local vendors, participating in training as required, work 3S (sweep, sort, and standardize) improvements and maintenance, champion LEAN initiatives as personally or Production Foreman identified. Per one of the five Expanse core values, "Safety," the technician safely constructs panels, conforming to all the company and plant safety requirements, and encourages others to do so as well. The expectation is that the Production Tech I will continually improve craftsmanship and strive to produce panels more efficiently, delivering the constructed product within the time standard. Completing the panel within and better than the standard fulfills the Production Tech I's contribution to the plant's on-time delivery commitment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports to the Production Foreman and must have a sound working relationship with the customer(s), management, supervisors, engineering, and technicians in the Panel Plant. The technician will follow the chain of command prescribed by the organizational chart.

REQUIREMENTS

Promote a LEAN culture throughout the plant. Know the eight wastes and work to reduce and eliminate the waste within the scope of the Panel Plant business strategy. Adhere to established work hours, breaks, and procedures related to time tracking. Follow foundational QMS principles and approved work methods. Use "tips and tricks" in the build and engineering processes. Build and wire control panels according to CAD, E-Plan, or other schematics and associated bill of materials (BOM). General duties will include assembly of control panels and enclosures, mounting components on panels, running wire, wire cutting, stripping, soldering, crimping, drilling, hole sawing, jig sawing, and performing a self-QC checklist before submitting the finished product to quality. Mark schematics with colors/symbols per engineering policy. Conduct daily 3S endeavors throughout the plant. Notify designated Production Foreman or "Lead" upon change of job statuses. Learn, adjust, and hone craftsmanship through quality and process improvements. Provide process improvement ideas to be evaluated by quality and engineering for inclusion in "tips and tricks". Rework panels as required by quality and disposition scrap per policy. Abide by the tool management program, discarding tools that do not meet requirements. Inform the Production Foreman of tool issues before disposing of tools. If a tool is out of calibration, report to the Production Foreman. Participate in plant-wide continuous improvement activities. Maintain a clean and organized area daily using 3S principles and per 3S work methods. Prepare finished control panels for shipment. Participate in Safety Culture, including Stop It Drop It & Behavioral Based Safety observations (expectation is four per person per month). Perform KPA training by training deadlines & complete Toolbox Talk acknowledgments by the end of the business day when the policy is read. Complete the QC checklist before checking builds into QC. Support special projects as required. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication) to make job-related calculations. Must be able to identify the 16ths on a tape measure. Other duties as assigned. Take ownership of one's efficiency; track hours completed vs. hours allotted. General duties will include assembly of control panels and enclosures, mounting components on panels, running wire, wire cutting, stripping, soldering, crimping, drilling, hole sawing, jig sawing, and performing a self-QC checklist before submitting the finished product to quality. Inform the Production Foreman of tool issues before disposing of tools. Must be able to identify the 16ths on a tape measure.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Learn to read and comprehend schematics. Be accountable for and be able to use tools provided by the tool program. Solid work ethic. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, and vendors. Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism among co-workers and customers. Must be dependable, trustworthy, and possess a positive and productive attitude. Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes extended hours.

Conducts annual review of Position Definition and updates as required.
