Senior CNC Machinist / Programmer

Job Description

Job Overview K4 Machining is seeking an experienced Senior CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our precision machining team in Waterbury, CT. We are looking for a hands-on machinist who can take a job from print or CAD model through process planning, programming, setup, prove-out, first-piece inspection and production. This is a hands-on shop-floor position , not a desk-only programming role. The right candidate will have strong CNC milling experience, solid setup and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to independently develop efficient machining processes. Experience with Mastercam, Haas and/or Mazak equipment is highly desirable. Responsibilities Program CNC milling operations using Mastercam Set up and operate CNC machining centers Develop machining processes from prints and CAD models Select tooling, workholding, speeds and feeds Perform machine setups, prove-outs and first-piece inspection Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T Use micrometers, calipers, indicators and other precision inspection equipment Troubleshoot machining, tooling and dimensional issues Make program and process adjustments to improve cycle time, quality and reliability Work independently on prototype and production machining Assist and mentor less-experienced machinists when appropriate Qualifications Strong CNC milling and setup experience CNC programming experience; Mastercam experience strongly preferred Ability to independently take a machining job from print/model through production Strong blueprint reading and inspection skills Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel and other common engineering materials Haas and/or Mazak experience is a plus Multi-axis machining experience is a plus, but not required Solid understanding of tooling, workholding, speeds and feeds Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Reliable, organized and comfortable working in a hands-on small-shop environment Position Full-time, 40 hours per week . K4 Machining operates a clean, modern, climate-controlled manufacturing facility in Waterbury, CT. Health insurance and paid time off are available following successful completion of the probationary period.
Compensation:
$25-$40/hour depending on experience and capability.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
