Position Summary Firebird Sign Company is looking for a skilled CNC Router Operator for 2nd shift . This role is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining a CNC router used in the production of cut materials for commercial and architectural signage. Accuracy, efficiency, and quality ownership are non-negotiable. Responsibilities Create cut files and program the CNC router for each job. Set up CNC routers, including installing tooling, aligning workpieces, and calibrating machines for optimal performance. Cut accurate pieces using correct materials per job specifications. Prioritize work orders to meet production due dates without sacrificing quality. Distribute finished pieces to the correct areas to maintain workflow continuity. Perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment. Build and maintain a job library to reduce future layout and setup time. Charge materials accurately to the corresponding job in the production system. Collaborate with production staff and assist with other responsibilities as needed. Requirements Minimum 2 years of hands-on 3-axis CNC router operation experience operation experience. High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant coursework or an Associate's degree is a plus. Proficiency with CAD software and CNC router programming; experience with EnRoute is strongly preferred. Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of sign construction and materials. Solid math skills including geometry, fractions, ratios, and the ability to read precise measurements. Ability to prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Consistent adherence to safety guidelines and shop protocols. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to troubleshoot minor mechanical or file issues under pressure. Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and reliable attendance. Skills & Characteristics Strong fabrication instincts with the ability to find practical solutions across a variety of sign build requirements High attention to detail and commitment to producing parts that meet quality and dimensional standards Solid math skills, fractions, ratios, proportions, and measurements, applied in a fabrication context Ability to work independently, manage priorities against a daily production schedule, and maintain consistent output Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating a range of shop equipment safely and efficiently Proficiency with EnRoute and Flexi; additional CAD or CNC software experience is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating computer-based production and workflow systems Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and reliable attendance Team-oriented with a proactive approach to communication and problem-solving Work Environment This position is based in Firebird's manufacturing facility in Raleigh, NC.
