In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of precision metal machining, utilizing your expertise in CNC lathe and milling machines to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex machining processes. Your technical skills will drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement in our manufacturing operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment, including 5-axis CNC machines and electrical discharge machining (EDM), while applying your knowledge of CAD/CAM software and engineering principles to produce high-precision components. Duties Develop and write CNC programs for various machining centers using CAM software, ensuring optimal tool paths and machining strategies for metal parts. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to accurately translate design intent into machine instructions. Set up CNC tooling, fixtures, and machining tools on CNC lathes and mills, including 5-axis CNC machines, ensuring precise alignment and calibration. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part dimensions and quality standards. Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling wear, or machine performance; implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Collaborate with design engineers using CAD software such as SolidWorks or CATIA to review designs and suggest manufacturability improvements. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying waste reduction opportunities and streamlining machining processes for increased efficiency. Experience Proven experience in CNC programming for metal machining applications on CNC lathe and milling machines; experience with 5-axis CNC machines is highly desirable. Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar engineering CAD design tools. Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes and their integration into manufacturing workflows. Familiarity with measurement techniques involving precision measuring instruments like micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Understanding of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), schematics, and schematic interpretation for accurate part fabrication. Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints for effective machining setup and tooling selection. Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles to improve process flow and reduce cycle times while maintaining quality standards.
