Architectural Drafter / CNC Programmer Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Architectural Drafter / CNC Programmer to develop detailed architectural drawings, fabrication drawings, and CNC programs for custom architectural components and millwork. This position combines design, drafting, engineering documentation, and CNC manufacturing to take projects from concept and approved drawings through fabrication. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of architectural drafting and construction methods, excellent CAD skills, and the ability to translate digital drawings into accurate CNC machine programs and production-ready files. Key Responsibilities Architectural Drafting Create detailed architectural drawings, shop drawings, elevations, sections, details, and fabrication drawings. Develop accurate 2D CAD models from architectural plans, sketches, specifications, and field measurements. Prepare drawings for custom architectural components, millwork, cabinetry, panels, doors, fixtures, and other fabricated products. Review architectural drawings and specifications for dimensions, materials, tolerances, and constructability. Coordinate drawings with architects, designers, engineers, project managers, and production personnel. Revise drawings based on customer, engineering, or production requirements. Produce accurate bills of materials, cut lists, and fabrication documentation when required. CNC Programming & Manufacturing Translate CAD drawings and 3D models into CNC-ready files and machine programs. Program CNC routers, machining centers, saws, or other automated manufacturing equipment. Create toolpaths, nesting layouts, drilling patterns, cutting operations, and machining strategies. Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, cutting depths, and machining sequences. Verify CNC programs and perform virtual or physical simulations when available. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, material, and dimensional issues. Work directly with CNC operators and production personnel to improve accuracy and efficiency. Modify programs as necessary to accommodate machine capabilities, material changes, or production requirements. Maintain organized CAD files, CNC programs, revisions, and production documentation. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in architectural drafting, CAD drafting, millwork drafting, manufacturing drafting, CNC programming, or a related field. Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Cabinet Vision, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar CAD/CAM software. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, shop drawings, and manufacturing specifications. Experience creating detailed production and fabrication drawings. Understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes. Strong mathematical and dimensional skills. Ability to interpret tolerances and understand material and tooling requirements. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with design and production teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with architectural millwork, cabinetry, woodworking, solid surfaces, plastics, metal, or composite materials. Experience operating or programming CNC routers or machining centers. Knowledge of G-code and CNC post-processors. Experience with nesting and material optimization software. Experience working directly from architectural plans and specifications. Knowledge of construction methods and architectural detailing. Experience with custom fabrication or project-based manufacturing. Position Success Success in this position requires the ability to bridge the gap between architectural design and manufacturing. The individual must be able to take an architectural concept or drawing, develop an accurate production model and fabrication drawing, and ultimately create a CNC program that produces the component correctly the first time.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
