Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Precision Surface Grinder to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up surface grinding machines to produce high-precision metal components. Your expertise in machining, blueprint interpretation, and measurement will ensure that parts meet strict quality standards. Duties Set up and operate precision surface grinding machines, ensuring accurate calibration and alignment for each job Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements Utilize measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances Program CNC surface grinders using G-code, M-code, and CAM programming techniques; troubleshoot CNC programs as needed Perform machine maintenance, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize grinding performance Conduct quality inspections during and after machining using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure parts meet specifications Collaborate with team members on tooling selection, machine setup, and process improvements for enhanced efficiency and precision Qualifications Proven experience operating manual and CNC surface grinders in a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, Fanuc controls, and CAM software such as SolidWorks or CAD for tooling design Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications accurately Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, power tools, hand tools, tooling setups, lathes, mills, grinders, and assembly processes Proficiency in basic math skills essential for measurement conversions and dimension calculations Experience with CNC lathe operations, milling machines, and manual machining techniques preferred Knowledge of measurement instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, bore micrometers for precision quality control Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including CNC machining and grinding operations Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise measurements consistently under tight tolerances Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to machine setup and troubleshooting Join our team if you're passionate about precision manufacturing!
