JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A INDUSTRIAL PAINTER
Independently perform preparation, cleaning, and structural painting operations. Typical items/facilities requiring structural painting for material such as I-beams, Angle, Channel, HSS sq. tubing. Surface preparation for painting shall be in accordance with AISC specifications and acceptable industry practices. Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct safety inspections, and perform mechanical cleaning such as sandblasting, needle gun, wire brush, sandpaper, etc. Properly protect all personnel, facilities, and equipment in surrounding areas where rigging and painting is being performed. Perform sandblasting operations. (As required) Match color and finishes per drawing specs. Properly completing DFT and wet film thicknesses on all processed material Ability to effectively document surface profile of all and any blasted material Maintain proper validation of equipment throughout the day. Repair rigging and staging equipment, as required, to facilitate the accomplishment of work assignment. Maintain logs, records, charts of paint requirements, etc. as required. Must possess a valid Driver's License. Performs other related and/or associated duties as required. This classification may include managing hazardous materials or other environmental responsibilities. Properly matches colors and mixes paint, varnish, shellac, lacquer or stain using pigments, bases and thinners, applying to surfaces with brushes, rollers, or guns to obtain desirable results of color, thickness, coverage and protection. Good Communication skills Ability to pay close attention to detail, work with computers, ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions Must possess a valid Driver's license. Performs other related and/or associated duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent and a recognized apprenticeship paint training program plus 2 years of experience 5 years of direct paint work-related skills, knowledge, and experience Able to interact with customers and coworkers in a courteous, professional, and effective manner Work independently and as part of a team Must have working knowledge of computers and work-related computer programs associated with the position
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds Walk, stand, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and bend/twist body for extended periods of time Use hands to handle, control, feel objects, tools and make adjustments to equipment controls Frequently perform repetitive movements Tolerate in and outdoor extreme cold, heat and humid conditions for extended periods of time May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles May be required to work a flexible work schedule to meet ship dates and customer requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work in the United States. Must pass a drug screen and background check.
