AEROSPACE PAINTER

coating requirements. This position supports Field International's aerospace manufacturing operations by ensuring products meet cosmetic, environmental, corrosion protection, and performance standards. The Aerospace Painter operates commercial paint booth equipment, performs surface preparation activities, maintains coating quality standards, and works collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to achieve production and customer delivery objectives. Duties and Responsibilities Painting Operations

• Prepare surfaces for coating through cleaning, sanding, masking, media preparation, and chemical treatment processes.
• Apply primers, topcoats, specialty finishes, and protective coatings to aerospace tooling, ground support equipment, fabricated structures, and customer products.
• Operate commercial paint booth equipment and spray application systems.
• Mix paints, coatings, catalysts, and solvents according to manufacturer specifications and work instructions.
• Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity, to ensure proper coating application and curing.
• Verify proper paint thickness, coverage, adhesion, and finish quality requirements.
• Perform touch-up and rework activities as required Quality and Compliance
• Conduct visual inspections and coating thickness measurements using approved inspection equipment.
• Verify compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, MIL-SPEC requirements, and internal quality standards.
• Complete production documentation and inspection records accurately.
• Identify and report nonconforming conditions and participate in corrective action activities.
• Support AS9100 quality management system requirements and continuous improvement initiatives. Safety and Environmental Compliance
• Follow all OSHA, EPA, company safety, and hazardous material handling requirements.
• Properly utilize respirators, protective clothing, and required PPE.
• Maintain paint booth cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
• Ensure proper storage and disposal of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
• Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, and environmental issues promptly. Qualifications Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in aerospace, defense, industrial, or manufacturing painting operations.
• Hands-on experience operating commercial paint booth equipment.
• Experience applying primers, topcoats, and specialty protective coatings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of paint mixing procedures, coating application methods, and finishing techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Preferred Qualifications
• Aerospace or Department of Defense manufacturing experience.
• Experience with

coatings and aerospace finishing requirements.

• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of coating technologies, paint application techniques, and surface preparation methods.
• Understanding of OSHA and environmental regulations governing painting operations.
• Ability to use coating thickness gauges and inspection equipment.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities. Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to wear respirators and personal protective equipment for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work within paint booth and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to bend, reach, climb, and perform repetitive motions as required.
