Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Powder Coating Supervisor to lead our finishing operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will oversee the powder coating process, ensuring high-quality application and adherence to safety protocols. Your leadership will drive efficiency, maintain production standards, and foster a safety-conscious team dedicated to excellence in industrial painting and surface finishing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence quality outcomes and streamline coating operations through expert supervision and technical knowledge. Duties Supervise daily powder coating activities, including surface preparation, application, and curing processes, ensuring compliance with quality standards in production. Oversee the operation of spray guns, airless paint sprayers, and conventional spraying equipment to achieve precise coating results. Monitor materials handling, including the use of forklifts and hand tools, to ensure safe and efficient movement of parts and materials within the warehouse and production areas. Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished products for coating consistency, surface defects, and adherence to specifications. Enforce safety protocols by ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), respirators, and respiratory protection devices during all coating activities. Interpret production documents such as work orders, process sheets, and quality checklists to maintain accurate workflow and documentation. Lead a team of technicians by providing training on powder coating techniques, machining, auto body repair prep, construction painting surface preparation, and use of hand tools and power tools. Promote lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity in the finishing department. Experience Proven experience supervising powder coating or industrial painting operations within a manufacturing or construction setting. Strong mechanical knowledge related to coating equipment maintenance, machining processes, auto painting techniques, and surface preparation methods. Familiarity with quality standards in production environments and experience interpreting manufacturing documentation. Hands-on experience with spray guns (including airless paint spraying), coating application techniques, and precision measuring instruments. Ability to operate forklifts safely; warehouse experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of safety protocols related to PPE use, respiratory protection, construction painting surfaces, and handling hazardous materials. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations relevant to coating thicknesses and material quantities.
