POSITION SUMMARY

Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical control systems for production equipment. Builds and wires control panels, calibrates field instrumentation, and resolves faults quickly to minimize downtime.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

System Troubleshooting Diagnose electrical faults, sensor failures, drive faults, and communication network drops under tight production timelines. Isolate problems across power, control, and network layers to restore equipment to service. PLC Maintenance Access Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to analyze input/output (I/O) status, verify code execution, and clear faults. Perform program backups and make minor directed edits such as timer values, setpoints, and HMI screen adjustments. Calibration & Testing Monitor, adjust, and calibrate instrumentation measuring pressure, temperature, flow, and fluid level. Verify loop integrity, replace failed devices, and maintain accurate calibration records. Schematic Interpretation Read and build systems from electrical blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), loop drawings, and manufacturer data sheets. Redline and update documentation to reflect field changes. Field Installations Terminate wires, build and modify control panels, run and terminate network cables, mount instrumentation, install conduit and cable tray, and land motor connections. Support equipment installs, commissioning, and startup. Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems and control hardware, log work in the CMMS, and identify recurring failure modes for correction. Safety Follow all electrical safety practices including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash requirements, and

NFPA 70E. TECHNICAL SKILLS

Diagnostic Tools:

Digital multimeters, voltage detectors, oscilloscopes, clamp meters, megohmmeters, process calibrators, and standard hand and power tools.

Automation Software:

PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix (Studio 5000, RSLogix) or Siemens (TIA Portal); SCADA and HMI systems including FactoryTalk View and WinCC.

Electrical:

Working knowledge of 24VDC control circuits through 480V three-phase power.

Motors & Drives:

Electric motor wiring, across-the-line and reversing starters, VFD and servo drive setup, parameter configuration, and fault diagnosis.

Networks:

Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet — cable routing, termination, addressing, and troubleshooting dropped nodes.

Panel Fabrication:

Enclosure layout, DIN rail, wire routing and labeling, terminal blocks, and point-to-point checkout.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED; technical school, military electrical training, or completed apprenticeship preferred. 3+ years of industrial electrical, controls, or E&I maintenance experience. Ability to troubleshoot from electrical schematics independently. Working understanding of the NEC and

NFPA 70E. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Journeyman electrician license. Process instrumentation, robotics, or vision system experience. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, working at elevation and in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods. Plant environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery. On-call rotation and occasional off-shift or weekend work required.
