Job Description
Scope of Work Field commissioning and startup support — I/O checkout, loop checks, point-to-point verification, and support during program download and debug. Troubleshooting live production systems — PLC logic faults, HMI alarms, VFD and servo drive faults, network dropouts, and field device failures. Control panel build, modification, and retrofit work in the shop and in the field. Legacy system upgrades — converting and integrating hardwired relay-logic control schemes into modern PLC platforms. Field wiring, terminations, device mounting, and installation oversight. As-built markups and redlines against electrical drawings; documentation of field changes. Direct customer interaction at client sites in a professional, plant-floor environment.
Required Qualifications Hands-on troubleshooting experience with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley platforms — ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix; Studio 5000 and RSLogix. PanelView and FactoryTalk View HMI navigation, alarm interpretation, and fault diagnosis. PowerFlex or comparable AC drive commissioning, parameter configuration, and fault troubleshooting. Genuine fluency with hardwired relay logic — able to trace, understand, and safely modify legacy control circuits with no PLC in the loop. This is not optional; a substantial share of our retrofit work begins here. Reads and works confidently from electrical drawings — ladder schematics, panel layouts, I/O and terminal schedules, and one-line diagrams. Competent control wiring and termination skills — panel wiring, field device landing, and basic conduit and tray work. Working knowledge of industrial safety practice, including lockout/tagout and arc flash awareness. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred QualificationsNot required, but any of the following will move a candidate to the top of the list and support the upper end of the pay range: Schneider Electric (Modicon, Altivar), Siemens (S7, TIA Portal), or SEW-Eurodrive experience. Servo and motion control systems — Kinetix or equivalent. Industrial networking — EtherNet/IP, managed switches, fiber optic media. Safety systems — safety relays, light curtains, and safety-rated I/O. Instrumentation, calibration, and process measurement.
