Midwest Branch — Wisconsin Reporting directly to the Service & Project Manager, the Senior Combustion Technician performs field service, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, start-up, commissioning, and retrofit work on industrial steam and hot-water systems. This includes boilers, burners, control systems, instrumentation, and energy-recovery equipment. Key Responsibilities Provide on-site technical support, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair services; Work with project teams to install burners, control systems, and instrumentation; Perform system start-up, commissioning, and operational testing; Test and verify critical system safety devices; Conduct combustion-efficiency analyses and tune equipment for safe, reliable, and efficient operation; Perform general pipefitting work related to boiler and combustion systems; Service and troubleshoot high-pressure steam systems; Accurately document completed work and communicate findings and recommendations to customers and project teams; Follow all applicable safety procedures and ensure the proper use of tools and equipment. Qualifications and Technical Skills The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial combustion systems and field service, along with the following qualifications: Journeyworker Steamfitter/Pipefitter status or the qualifications and ability to join the applicable local union; Journeyman-level steam competency preferred; Journeyman-level gas burner competency required; master-level competency preferred; Journeyman-level oil burner competency required; master-level competency preferred; High-pressure piping Journeyworker competency preferred; Power-limited electrical competency preferred; Demonstrated experience in a technical field-service environment; Experience servicing and commissioning burners, boilers, combustion controls, and related systems; Ability to diagnose and repair boiler, burner, and plant master control systems; Experience calibrating instrumentation using specialized tools and technical procedures; Intermediate to advanced computer skills; Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, and building automation systems (BAS); Experience operating forklifts, aerial lifts, telehandlers, and other job-site equipment; Valid driver's license; OSHA 10 certification completed within the past two years; Strong commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of tools and equipment.
