Utility Team Lead Working Supervisor

Job Description

August 18, 2026 Utility Team Lead Working Supervisor North Augusta, SC Starting at $20 / per hour Full time Apply Now Back Job Description We are looking for a hands-on Utility Team Lead to run the floor and run the equipment — a working supervisor who sets the pace for the Utility Specialist team instead of just directing from the sidelines. You'll lead, coach, and hold your team accountable for hitting production and quality targets, while staying proficient on the machines yourself so you can jump in, troubleshoot, and train at a moment's notice. If you know your way around industrial production equipment and want a leadership role where you're still building product every day, this is built for you. What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage accountability — Lead the Utility Specialist team day-to-day, providing clear direction and handson instruction on processes and equipment.
  • Coordinate production — Facilitate production processes across the shift to keep work flowing smoothly and on schedule.
  • Own quality and throughput — Ensure high-quality products are produced within allotted production/cycle time, catching and correcting issues before they become scrap or rework.
  • Work the floor — Operate as a true working supervisor — run machines and perform production tasks alongside the team, not just from behind a clipboard.
  • Be the technical expert — Maintain and demonstrate proficiency across department machinery, serving as the team's go-to resource for setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage the schedule — Monitor production schedules and adjust workflow or staffing as needed to hit deadlines.
  • Champion safety and 5S — Reinforce safety procedures and 5S standards, and coach team members on corrective actions when standards aren't met.
  • Communicate up — Keep the Production Manager/Assistant Production Manager informed on production status, quality issues, and team needs.
  • Develop the team — Train new operators and cross-train current team members on utility equipment and processes.
  • Drive TPM — Own Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for all machines in the department, ensuring cleaning, inspection, and preventive maintenance schedules are followed and documented.
  • Weekly leadership meeting — Participate in a weekly EOS Level 10 (L10) meeting with all team leads to review priorities, solve issues, and stay aligned across the shop. Machine & Technical Skills Hands-on experience with the following is required, or the ability to quickly pick it up:
  • RF (radio-frequency)/dielectric or heat-sealing equipment (e.g., Miller Rflex) — setting and adjusting parameters such as power, dwell/seal time, and cool time to produce a consistent, defect-free seal.
  • Thermal or impulse sealing equipment (e.g., Miller T300) — dialing in temperature, pressure, and cycle time/dwell settings for a clean, repeatable seal.
  • Automated or CNC cutting equipment (e.g., Eastman Auto Cutter) — loading material, running cut programs/patterns, and making routine adjustments for material type and thickness.
  • Hot air (hot wedge) seam-sealing equipment (e.g., Miller Hot Air machines) — setting air temperature and feed speed, and checking roller pressure for consistent continuous-seam sealing.
  • General equipment aptitude — comfortable reading digital and analog control panels, adjusting machine settings, and performing routine equipment troubleshooting and minor maintenance.
  • Comfortable reading work orders, specs, and quality standards, and able to spot and correct process drift before it produces bad parts.
  • Able to learn new equipment quickly and cross-train across multiple machine types.
  • Able to pass a drug test. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of production/manufacturing experience; industrial fabric, vinyl, or textile fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Prior lead, working supervisor, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills — able to give clear direction and hold people accountable while staying approachable.
  • Basic math and measuring skills; comfortable reading production specs and work orders.
  • Able to proficiently read a tape measure.
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for the full shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive motions.
  • Comfortable operating industrial production machinery and hand tools.
