Master Plaster Modeler

Job Description

About the Role As a Master Plaster Modeler, you will serve as a critical technical expert in the fabrication of complex tooling, master models, and precision fixtures. Your work directly impacts production accuracy by translating engineering data into high-fidelity physical forms that guide the manufacturing lifecycle. Responsibilities Construct and repair intricate plaster patterns, master molds, and checking fixtures by interpreting complex engineering loft data and blueprints. Optimize production outcomes by determining the most effective methods for sand molding, split patterns, and core box development while accounting for material shrinkage and spring-back. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to resolve design ambiguities and implement necessary tooling modifications. Execute precise layout tasks using templates and reference points to ensure adherence to strict trim lines and design specifications. Mentor junior staff by coordinating workflows and providing technical guidance on specialized plaster and plastic tooling operations. Operate precision measurement tools and shop equipment, including band saws, grinders, and vernier height gauges, to maintain rigorous quality standards. Required Skills Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in plaster modeling or pattern making. Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting complex engineering loft information. Expertise in master mold and master tooling fabrication techniques. Demonstrated ability to operate shop machinery such as circular saws, jig grinders, and spraying equipment. Preferred Skills Experience working with composite materials and advanced repair techniques. Strong background in tool, die, and mold setup processes. Familiarity with precision instruments including transits, protractors, and height gauges. Proven ability to lead small teams or coordinate technical projects.
