Job Description
Overview:
Eric Scott International LLC is a premier manufacturer of vinyl products for more than 3 decades, centrally located in the Midwest. The Machine Operator position independently operates and monitors manufacturing equipment to meet production, quality, and safety requirements. This position requires a solid understanding of machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and quality standards. In addition, this position performs equipment adjustments and identifies and resolves common production issues, while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe and hazard free environment. Adhere to company standard operating procedures at all times. Ability to read and comprehend work orders, production tickets, labels, and basic process documentation and follow established procedures. Perform basic pre-operation checks on equipment and report any abnormal conditions before startup. Follow work order schedule as directed by Lead/Supervisor and ensure all work orders get completed on time by meeting production targets. Operate and monitor equipment, adjusting machine settings within approved limits to ensure quality and efficiency. Perform first-piece and in-process visual inspections of own product to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications. Identify and separate non-conforming product and notify Lead/Supervisor when quality issues are detected. Record production output, downtime, and other required production data accurately on production sheets or in the system. Assist Quality Assurance team with product defects by continuously monitoring the production line for consistent output including temperature, measurements, speed, blades/notching, and labels. Palletize and relocate finished products from machines to inventory to shrink-wrap or other packaging area for final pack out. Monitor machines during operations to detect any malfunctions and troubleshoot issues using assigned tools if needed to maintain the best production quality. Promptly communicate any maintenance issues or malfunctions to Supervisor and/or Maintenance. Record stops and ends of work orders and report daily production and scrap rates. Propose process and machine improvements to maintain high quality standards. Utilize ERP or production floor software to clock on/off jobs, record quantities, and enter basic production information for efficiency tracking. Keep the machinery and work center area clean after each changeover and at end of shift to ensure that it meets safety and operational standards. Properly handle, store, and dispose of scrap and waste materials according to procedure. Work cooperatively with team members and support other operators as needed to keep production flowing. Escalate practical matters to management with an understanding of the job responsibilities and knowledge of how it impacts others and the business operations. Cross train in other departments as scheduled by your Supervisor. Promote Company policies and participate in required company-wide programs and training as directed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Ability to maintain an attendance Level acceptable to Company policies. Excellent time management skills. Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to understand mechanics and technical tasks for assigned equipment. Excellent communication and interaction skills. Must be flexible with work hours when required. Ability to follow directions. Ability to work well with others and make peers feel safe and valued in the workplace. Willingness to be trained and to train other team members on applicable equipment. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit and/or stand for full scheduled shift. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinery.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. 2+ years prior experience operating manufacturing equipment.
