Work spanning from bespoke fabrications to High End homes. Role Description The Fabricator Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in New York. This position is responsible for turning design concepts into functional physical structures, installations, and custom fabrications. Daily tasks include interpreting technical drawings, operating fabrication tools and machinery, using modeling programs, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The Fabricator Engineer collaborates closely with project managers, and other fabrication team members to refine designs, solve technical challenges, and meet project timelines. The role also involves maintaining equipment, documenting fabrication processes, and continuously improving production methods. Qualifications Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and fabrication plans. Hands-on experience with metalworking, woodworking, including use of standard shop tools and machinery. Familiarity with fabrication techniques such as welding, cutting, assembly, and finishing. Understanding of material properties and selection for structural, aesthetic, and durability requirements. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in translating design intent into precise fabricated components. Commitment to safety practices, equipment maintenance, and shop organization. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary project teams. Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced workshop environment. Relevant technical training or degree in engineering, industrial design, fabrication, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in architectural fabrication, experiential installations, or custom manufacturing is a plus.
