Before You Apply Take two minutes and look at what you'd actually be building: pillarmachine.com/machines. We build CNC mortise & tenon machines and dowel insertion machines — precision equipment that's been in production since 1983. If that kind of build gets you curious rather than intimidated, keep reading. About Us Pillar Machine is the world leader in CNC mortise and tenon machines and CNC dowel insertion machines. We've been building this machinery line since 1983, produce 70+ machines a year, and sell through 40+ dealerships across North America — all out of our Taylorsville, UT facility with a team of 28. Our people consistently point to good leadership, a collaborative culture, and real flexibility with scheduling as reasons they stay. We invest in developing mechanical and technical skill in a supportive, growth-oriented shop. Job Summary We're adding to our assembly team. This is not typical assembly-line work. Each assembler owns their build from start to finish — you're the project manager on your machine, with teammates around you sharing knowledge and problem-solving together rather than everyone doing the same repetitive step all day. This role is built for someone who's mechanically inclined, whether that came from a job or a garage. Ever wrenched on your own truck? Rebuilt a motorcycle engine? Restored something just to see if you could? That instinct — the ability to look at a mechanical problem and work out how the pieces go together — is exactly what we're looking for. Why You'll Love This Job No two days look the same, and no two machines get built the same way twice. You'll learn constantly, and what you build actually leaves the shop and goes to work in a customer's facility — you see the result. People here report genuinely high job satisfaction. Ask about growth paths during your interview; we promote from within. Key Responsibilities
Bolting components and assemblies together
Running electrical cables and sensors
Pulling and plumbing pneumatic hoses
Managing inventory and purchasing the parts you need for your build
Giving mechanical engineers direct, creative feedback on design and buildability
Acting as your own project manager — owning the mechanical build start to finish
Prepping, masking, and painting machine frames and components
Handling warehouse tasks: shipping, receiving, keeping your area clean Qualifications
Mechanically inclined, with real hands-on experience — professional or self-taught
A track record of mechanical work: as a mechanic, technician, or through serious hobby projects
Able to lift and handle 50+ lbs regularly
Comfortable with basic measuring tools — tape measures, calipers
Self-starter, honest, and a team player
Able to plan and see a multi-step project through to the end Painting experience: We're specifically looking for candidates with some painting background — automotive industry paint experience is an especially strong fit. If you've sprayed, prepped, or finished paint on vehicles or equipment, tell us about it. What We Offer
