Looking for something different than the typical factory job? H&H Fur Dressing in Mecosta, MI is hiring Hide Shavers to join our commercial tannery serving the taxidermy industry. This is a hands on skilled trade where you will learn to shave and thin animal hides from around the world using a specialized round knife shaving machine. Becoming a skilled shaver takes practice, precision, and attention to detail.

We're looking for people who are dependable, willing to learn, and aren't afraid of physical work. This isn't a clean desk job. You will get wet and you will get dirty , but you'll also learn a unique skill that very few people know how to do.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Operate a round knife shaving machine to carefully thin animal hides Work with a wide variety of North American and exotic species Maintain consistent thickness while protecting the quality of each hide Work with your hands throughout the shift Lift and handle hides weighing up to 50 lbs Develop your speed, accuracy, and skill through hands on training

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Reliable attendance Strong attention to detail Good hand eye coordination Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements Ability to work on your feet for an 8 to 10 hour shift Willingness to learn and improve Dependable transportation

PAY:

Starting at $17.00 per hour Experienced shavers may qualify for higher starting pay. This is a skilled trade with significant earning potential as your speed, experience, and quality improve. The better you become at the trade, the more valuable your skill becomes.

SCHEDULE

Monday through Thursday | 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM Our normal production schedule is four days a week. Once an employee becomes proficient in the position, mandatory overtime on Fridays may be required based on workload and production needs.
