Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tooling Sharpener to join our manufacturing team. Schedule is 4 10-hour days. In this vital role, you will be responsible for sharpening dies, ensuring optimal performance and precision. Your expertise will directly contribute to the quality and efficiency of our production operations. The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, and possesses a strong mechanical aptitude with a keen eye for accuracy. Duties Prior to sharpening, inspect dies for dimensional accuracy using the roll drawing. Prior to sharpening, inspect the die layout and shapes for dimensional accuracy using specifications on the blue order form. Prior to sharpening, assess dies for blade quality and notify the Lead Sharpener of blades that may create cutting problems. (beginning level) Accurately sharpen rectangles, circles, butt cuts and lineal blades on dies that are cutting 60/40, tag stock, sandpaper and foam in a timely manner. (intermediate level) Accurately sharpen corners, tees, crosses and other intermediate, special shapes on dies that are cutting sontara, polyester, vinyl and mylar stocks in a timely manner. (advanced level) Accurately sharpen all dies shapes on dies cutting any material required. Consistently sharpen two hundred or more inches per day. Test dies, evaluate cut quality and correct identified problems. Assess and organize workload to assure work is completed efficiently and in a timely fashion. Complete all paperwork legibly and accurately. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors. This includes assisting and training personnel when necessary. Submit ideas for changing methods, processes, and procedures that will enable the company to function in a more profitable manner. Keep personal workspace clean and orderly to promote optimal productivity. Perform routine preventative maintenance on department equipment and notify supervision of non-routine maintenance needs. Maintain materials inventory for department and notify supervision of material needs in a timely manner. Requirements Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer prior work experience in a manufacturing setting that was compliant to
ISO 9001
2008 or equivalent quality system. Requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Requires the ability to calculate fractions, decimals and conversions and to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry. Requires the knowledge of blueprint terminology, and the ability to inspect prints for dimensional integrity and to interpret manufacturing requirements from the print. Requires the ability to properly calibrate and use snap gauges. Requires the ability to properly calibrate and use micrometers. Requires the ability to inspect incoming and outgoing work to identify material that is not to specification. Requires the ability to complete required paperwork properly and legibly. Must be detail oriented and committed to completing work to the highest degree of quality. Must possess a high sense of urgency in terms of completing routine and assigned tasks on time.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
