Position Summary:
Furniture Design Services is seeking a hard-working, driven, and ambitious Cabinetry Finisher with growth potential to step into our Lead Finisher position. We are looking for a motivated professional with 3 to 5 years of experience in woodworking or finishing who combines a rock-solid work ethic with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to take direction and master the trade. Working directly alongside our current shop leadership, you will assist in and execute high-end finish applications while being fast-tracked to take full ownership of the finish department. If you bring the right energy, coachability, and baseline talents, we will invest in your growth and guide you into a lead role.

Responsibilities:
- Execute surface preparation, detail sanding, and finish applications to exact shop standards.
- Mix, match, and prepare stains, paints, clear coats, and glazes, learning advanced chemistry alongside leadership.
- Set up, operate, clean, and troubleshoot HVLP systems and air-assisted spray equipment.
- Maintain active, daily communication with the Floor Manager regarding department workflow, staging, and component status.
- Keep spray booths, spray equipment, and finishing areas clean, safe, and organized.
- Train to conduct final quality control inspections to ensure outgoing pieces meet high-end residential standards prior to installation.
- Gradually take on supervisory duties, including guiding junior helpers and coordinating finishing schedules.
Qualifications & Leadership Potential:
Experience :
3-5 years of hands-on experience in finishing, cabinetmaking, or high-end woodworking.
Growth Mindset :
Strong desire and demonstrated potential to step into a Lead Finisher capacity.
Soft Skills :
Outstanding communication skills, a team-first mindset, and a proven track record of taking direction well.
Technical Foundation :
Familiarity with sanding progressions, wood species, and spray equipment setups.
Quality :
High attention to detail, color consistency, and fine surface inspection.
Physical Ability :
Able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive movements, and safely lift/move heavy wood components.
