POSITION SUMMARY

The Metal Processing employee is responsible for safely and efficiently processing metal components according to production requirements, work instructions, and quality standards. This position involves operating metal-processing equipment, preparing materials for welding or assembly, inspecting finished components, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process steel and metal components according to production drawings, work orders, and specifications. Operate various metal-processing equipment, which may include: Press brakes Bridgeport Grinders Cut-off saws Drill presses Other production machinery Measure and inspect material using tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools. Load, position, and secure metal materials properly in processing equipment. Cut, bend, punch, drill, grind, and otherwise prepare metal components for welding or assembly. Identify defects, incorrect dimensions, or damaged materials and report them to the supervisor. Follow production schedules and maintain expected production rates. Read and understand basic blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and production specifications. Perform quality checks throughout the production process. Safely handle and move steel components and materials. Use hand tools and power tools as required. Maintain equipment and report mechanical or operational issues promptly. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations. Work cooperatively with welders, assemblers, material handlers, and other production employees. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous manufacturing, metal processing, fabrication, or machine operation experience preferred. Ability to read and understand basic measurements and production instructions. Basic understanding of metalworking processes and equipment. Ability to use measuring tools accurately. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and processes. Ability to identify quality issues and follow established procedures. Good attendance and reliable work habits. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift. Ability to safely handle metal components and materials. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds , with heavier materials handled using appropriate lifting equipment or team-lifting procedures. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, metal particles, and moving equipment. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

Manufacturing, fabrication, metal processing, machine operation, or welding experience is preferred but not required. Willingness to train qualified candidates with the right attitude and mechanical aptitude.

Pay:

$19.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
