Overview The Junior Finishing Operator supports the final stages of the manufacturing process by safely operating finishing equipment, preparing and processing materials, performing quality inspections, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This position is responsible for learning proper finishing techniques, equipment operation, measurement and inspection requirements, and Ameritube's safety, quality, and production procedures. Hiring for 2nd (2pm - 10pm) and 3rd (10pm - 6am) Shifts Required Skills /
Qualifications:
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, work instructions, and production specifications.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to maintain steady hand coordination and attention to detail when performing finishing operations.
- Ability to identify visible defects such as scratches, pits, discoloration, surface imperfections, or other abnormalities.
- Ability to use basic measurement and inspection tools as required for the assigned process.
- Ability to read and follow production plans, specifications, drawings, or work instructions.
- Ability to safely handle metal products and materials.
- Ability to perform basic equipment cleaning, lubrication, and routine upkeep.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with supervisors and other team members.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Previous manufacturing or metal finishing experience is preferred but not required.
Quality & Productivity Expectations:
- Follow established work instructions, production specifications, and Ameritube's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Properly prepare surfaces and materials before beginning the finishing process.
- Operate finishing equipment according to established procedures and production requirements.
- Inspect finished products for scratches, pits, surface defects, discoloration, dimensional issues, or other quality concerns.
- Use required inspection and measurement tools correctly.
- Identify and report nonconforming material to the appropriate supervisor or Senior Operator.
- Properly handle, package, transport, and identify finished products to prevent damage or mix-ups.
- Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
- Maintain consistent production while prioritizing safety and product quality.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic equipment upkeep to help prevent unnecessary downtime.
- Communicate equipment or process problems promptly so they can be addressed before affecting additional production.
