Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Control Technician to support electrical, automation, and controls systems within a high-speed manufacturing environment in West Sacramento. This position will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment, PLC-controlled machinery, automation systems, and related instrumentation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems and controls, is comfortable responding to equipment issues in a fast-paced production setting, and places a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and quality. Key Responsibilities Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical and controls equipment. Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery, sensors, HMIs, and associated automation components. Diagnose electrical and controls issues to minimize production downtime. Work with a variety of industrial instrumentation and automation equipment, including: AS-i networks DeviceNet PLCs and PLC I/O HMIs VFDs PID control loops Flow and conductivity meters Level transmitters and level detection systems RTDs and thermocouples I/P transducers Valve positioners High-speed coding equipment Label detection systems X-ray product inspection equipment Install, configure, program, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering documentation. Assist with equipment improvements and reliability initiatives in partnership with engineering and production teams. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance calls. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, modifications, and shift handoffs. Follow established safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash requirements, OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, and applicable electrical codes. Controls & Technical Skills Candidates should have experience with: PLC troubleshooting and/or programming Industrial automation and controls Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Robotics and automated manufacturing systems Three-phase electrical systems Three-phase motor diagnostics and coil evaluation Industrial instrumentation Preventive and predictive maintenance practices Lean manufacturing and/or maintenance reliability programs Qualifications 3+ years of experience working as an industrial electrician, controls technician, or in a closely related industrial maintenance/automation role. Experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical and controls equipment. Strong VFD installation, programming, and troubleshooting experience. Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, including three-phase power and motor diagnostics. Ability to troubleshoot problems logically and efficiently in a production environment. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, production, and maintenance teams. Willingness and ability to respond quickly to equipment downtime situations. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing facility where employees may encounter machinery, vibration, moving equipment, and elevated noise levels. The role requires the ability to: Work around industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment. Wear required personal protective equipment and other safety gear. Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods as needed. Frequently use hands to operate tools, equipment, and controls. Occasionally climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift and/or move materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds . Work effectively under pressure and respond to changing production priorities. Distinguish colors and demonstrate adequate close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision for electrical and controls work.
