Overview The Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia is seeking a part-time, detail-oriented Wood Refinishing Manager to lead its wood restoration team. A person with daytime availability, creativity, and a passion for repairing furniture and developing restoration ideas would be well suited for this role, especially someone committed to mentoring residents. In this role, you will oversee wood refinishing projects from start to finish, ensure high-quality workmanship, maintain safe and sanitary shop practices, and help the team deliver excellent craftsmanship in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the restoration shop, including assigning tasks to residents and following up on their progress throughout the restoration process. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while ensuring that those in your care are safely using tools and materials. Track inventory of supplies and restored furniture, giving supply inventories to the operations manager weekly. Ensure inventory is stored correctly. Assist residents in learning how to restore furniture using various techniques, including painting and woodworking, as determined by a member of management. Operate, train others in using tools such as paint sprayers, hand tools, and power tools, ensuring that they operate properly and informing the operations manager if there is a problem with the equipment. Ensure daily equipment checks and that all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained. Train and guide residents as needed in a Christ-like manner, reporting progress with residents to the manager should they arise. Keep the outside area clean and well maintained, including the areas around the dumpsters and under the awning. Reducing clutter inside and outside the building helps prevent unsafe conditions and minimize losses. Other duties as assigned.
