Atlas Gear Company specializes in low to mid volume production runs. We are hiring for an Gear Cutting Machinist capable of programing, set-up, operation of CNC and manual equipment with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for operating gear cutting machinery such as shapers and hobbing machines to produce high-quality gears according to specifications. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and expertise in gear cutting techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate gear cutting machines focused on Shaper Cutting (and possibly hobbing).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine gear specifications.
- Perform gear cutting operations to achieve precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure gears meet required standards.
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine maintenance tasks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in gear cutting operations using shaper and/or hobbing machines.
- Proficiency in layout design for gear cutting processes.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
Work schedule:
Monday- Thursday (10 hours per day), OT on Friday and/or Saturday as required.
