GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for finishing production parts using various abrading and tumbling machines. Operates and maintains equipment, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to specified tolerances and finishing standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES ARE BUT NOT LIMITED TO
Key Responsibilities
Prepares and loads parts into abrading and tumbling machines, ensuring proper setup to achieve the required surface finish.
Selects and handles appropriate finishing media and compounds, understanding how media type, size, and process time affect the final product.
Performs hand deburring of machined components using a variety of manual and powered tools including files, abrasive stones, scrapers, rotary tools, sandpaper, and other deburring equipment.
Applies appropriate deburring methods based on material type, part geometry, edge requirements, and print specifications to safely remove burrs and sharp edges.
Ensures burr removal while maintaining dimensional integrity, required edge break conditions, and overall part quality.
Evaluates parts to determine the most effective deburring method and adjusts techniques as needed to achieve the required finish and functionality.
Inspects finished parts to verify edges, surfaces, and overall quality meet blueprint, drawing, and work order requirements.
JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS
Experience with finishing processes, particularly using abrading and tumbling machines. Knowledge of various finishing media and their applications. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders. Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes on all parts. Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting productivity and quality targets. Basic maintenance skills for troubleshooting and maintaining finishing equipment.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. One year experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on finishing operations. Familiarity with manufacturing technology and processes is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work. Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
