This position is focused on preparing and assembling sand molds for metal castings and safely moving molds and materials throughout the foundry. Previous foundry or molding experience is helpful but not required. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a hands-on industrial environment. Key Duties Assemble and prepare sand molds for metal castings according to work instructions and production requirements. Position cope, drag, cores, chaplets, chills, and other mold components accurately. Operate overhead cranes and hoists to safely move molds, flasks, cores, and other materials. Properly rig and secure materials before lifting. Perform mold closing, clamping, and securing procedures to ensure molds are properly aligned and ready for pouring. Perform mold preparation, adjustments, and minor repairs as needed to meet casting requirements. Work with the Molding, Quality, and Melt departments to keep production moving on schedule. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and foundry operating practices. Qualifications Previous foundry, molding, or manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required. Previous experience operating an overhead crane or hoist is a plus. Knowledge of foundry patterns, sand molding, sand molds for metal castings, or mold construction is a bonus. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, elevated temperatures, and molten metal. Comfortable performing physically demanding work and standing for extended periods. Able to lift, move, and handle materials as required. Willingness to learn foundry processes and procedures. Ability to communicate and work effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work environment. What You'll Contribute As a Mold Assembler , you'll play an important hands-on role in preparing sand molds for metal castings and keeping the foundry production process moving efficiently. This position provides an opportunity to develop specialized foundry skills, including mold assembly, pattern use, overhead crane operation, and mold and pattern preparation , while working alongside experienced members of the team.
