Mechanic/Machinist - 1st Shift

Job Description

SUMMARY:
Oversee the health and precision of our production equipment. You will be responsible for both the mechanical repair of complex systems and the manual fabrication of replacement parts to minimize facility downtime.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance & Repair:
Troubleshoot, take apart, and fix hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Precision Machining:
Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and grinders to create parts from blueprints.
Diagnosis:
Use vibration analysis and precision alignment tools to identify internal machine wear.
Preventive Care:
Execute scheduled lubrication, belt replacements, and seal inspections.
Installation:
Lead the rigging and leveling of new heavy industrial equipment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Keep a clean and orderly work place. Assist maintenance technicians on complex issues and projects.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Blueprint Reading:
Expert ability to interpret mechanical drawings and CAD designs.
Tool Proficiency:
Mastery of micrometers, calipers, indicators, and stationary power tools.
Welding/Fabrication:
Basic proficiency in MIG, TIG, or Stick welding for equipment repair.
Mathematics:
Strong grasp of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry for machining angles. Machine tool experience/knowledge.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are consistent with that of a manufacturing environment: loud, high-heat, and fast-paced. Must possess the ability to handle heavy components and be comfortable working in awkward positions. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 70 pounds and strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE protocols. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses and steel toe shoes, loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Hair that touches the shoulders must be pinned up so as not to touch the shoulder.
