Resume | Interview | Background Check | Drug Test | Authorized to Work in the U.S. Job Overview Our client, an established manufacturing company in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join its production team. This is a hands-on position for someone with a strong CNC machining background who is comfortable handling machine setup, programming, and operation . The CNC Programmer will work closely with production and office personnel on short-run and prototype projects. This position has no supervisory responsibilities . Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate CNC machines for precision machining of short-run and prototype components Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications Write and modify CNC programs using G-code and Mastercam Set up tooling and fixtures for machining operations Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each project Design and manufacture custom fixtures when required Perform machining operations including milling, turning, and drilling Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency Inspect completed parts to verify dimensional and quality specifications Troubleshoot programming, setup, and machining issues Work collaboratively with welders and other members of the production team Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Perform additional duties as needed Qualifications Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience Strong CNC programming and machine setup experience Experience with Mastercam and G-code Proficiency with CAD/CAM software Experience with milling, turning, and drilling operations Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and weld symbols Experience using precision measuring equipment, including height gauges and calipers Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and practices Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team What We're Looking For The strongest candidate will be a hands-on CNC professional who can take a project from print to finished part. You should be comfortable programming, setting up tooling and fixtures, running the machine, inspecting your work, and troubleshooting issues without requiring constant direction. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Programmer who enjoys short-run and prototype machining rather than repetitive high-volume production.
Pay:
$38.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
