Job Title:
CNC Mill Machinist
  • 2nd Shift Job Description This position offers an opportunity for an experienced CNC Mill Machinist to set up and run milling machines in a precision, production-oriented machine shop.
You will work on the 2nd shift with built-in overtime, performing complex setups, operating CNC milling equipment, and ensuring parts meet exact specifications in an
AS9100/ISO 9001
environment. Initial training takes place on 1st shift with a flexible schedule before transitioning to the regular 2nd shift schedule. Responsibilities Set up and run CNC milling machines independently, including complete machine setup and changeover. Maintain part and process specifications by observing tooling condition, taking accurate measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, and adjusting machine controls as needed. Read and interpret customer blueprints and company operation sheets to determine machining requirements and setup instructions. Utilize machine control systems to set tools, enter and adjust tool offsets, and run CNC programs. Follow detailed setup instructions, including setting up fixtures, vises, and rotary devices for various jobs. Troubleshoot machining issues and work directly with programming and inspection teams to adjust CNC programs and resolve quality or process concerns. Use precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and related gauges to verify part dimensions and ensure quality. Operate within AS9100 and
ISO 9001
quality requirements, including proper documentation, revision control, traceability, and lot control. Monitor machine performance during production runs and replace worn tools to maintain quality and productivity. Maintain a clean and organized work area in a typical production machine shop environment. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience setting up and running CNC milling machines in a production or similar environment. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and operation sheets to determine machining requirements. Hands-on experience with CNC mill setup, including fixtures, vises, and rotary devices. Ability to perform machine changeovers, including changing tooling and updating offsets. Competence using machine control systems to set tools, enter offsets, and operate CNC programs. Strong troubleshooting skills for machining processes, tooling issues, and dimensional nonconformances. Ability to work collaboratively with programming and inspection personnel to adjust CNC programs and resolve issues. Proficient use of precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators. Working knowledge of AS9100 and
ISO 9001
requirements related to documentation, revision control, traceability, and lot control. Ability to consistently follow detailed setup and work instructions in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in advanced manufacturing or a similar precision machining environment. Familiarity with high-mix, precision machining work in a machine shop setting. Comfort working on a 2nd shift schedule with built-in overtime. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Willingness to learn and grow into more advanced responsibilities over time. Why Work Here? Initial training is conducted on 1st shift with a flexible schedule before moving to the regular 2nd shift. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on precision machining, quality standards under AS9100 and ISO 9001, and adherence to proper documentation and traceability practices. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Springfield, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52000.00

00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
