Job Description

Job Summary This position reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and design fabrication of machine tools. The position requires cutting, shaping, and forming parts from various types of materials, primarily metal or plastic. The work requires planning, proper machine set-up, precise measurements, and operation of machines to perform the duties outlined below. Core Responsibilities Performs machine tooling tasks and fabrication using drill press, mills, lathes, etc. Operates various machines and test equipment to perform machining tasks. Machines include metal cutting, milling, drilling, lathes, surface grinders, heat treat, belt sander and saws. Reads and understands blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and set-up requirements. Interfaces as a team player, with all departments to ensure timely delivery of our products. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut according to established guidelines. Starts and observes machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings. Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required. Confers with engineers, assembly personnel and other employees to resolve machining or assembly problems. Uses hand and power tools, micrometers, dial indicators and scales. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Ensures safe work practices are followed. Complies with safety regulations. May be required to work overtime, including weekends. Must be willing to travel between our NH and NC facilities as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. 5 years of general machine tooling experience. Technical school machine training. G and M code programming. Fixture/tooling design experience. Proto Trak SLX and SMX controller experience is a plus. Competencies Strong problem solving and mathematical skills including decimals, trigonometry, and geometry. Mechanical skills. Focus on quality and attention to detail. Troubleshooting skills. Team player. Time management and planning. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
