In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, modifying, and maintaining precision components used in research and development projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, extensive experience with CNC machining and manual machining techniques, and proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge product development through precise machining processes, utilizing advanced tools and programming skills. Duties Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines such as lathes and milling centers, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy. Program CNC machines using MasterCAM programming software to produce prototypes and experimental components. Interpret mechanical blueprints & technical drawings, to ensure precise manufacturing of parts. Perform manual machining operations using hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measurement instruments. Conduct quality inspections utilizing measurement tools and visual assessments to verify part dimensions meet specifications. Complete machine setup, tooling selection, and calibration to optimize manufacturing efficiency. Support assembly processes by fabricating custom parts or fixtures as needed for research projects. Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow established safety procedures. Collaborate with production on prototype development, providing feedback on manufacturability and design adjustments. Qualifications Proven experience in CNC machining (lathe and milling). Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks . Knowledge of machining tools including grinders, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus. Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately.. Mechanical knowledge related to metalworking processes such as welding, grinding, drilling, and assembly. Experience with MasterCAM programming software for CNC toolpath generation. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control during manufacturing processes. Ability to operate manual machinery alongside CNC equipment efficiently. Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to enhance productivity.
