Job Title:
CNC Machinist in Clairton, PA Job Description This role performs complex CNC milling operations in a machine shop environment, producing high‑quality parts efficiently while supporting continuous improvement across processes and teams. You will program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines, troubleshoot G‑code, and verify part conformance using precision measuring tools, all while upholding strict safety, quality, and shop standards. Responsibilities Perform complex machining operations on CNC milling machines, including vertical and other configurations, to produce precision components. Read, understand, and troubleshoot G‑code to ensure programs run accurately and efficiently. Set up and operate CNC machines, including selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and machining parameters. Mentor and support other machinists by helping resolve complex machining challenges and sharing best practices. Manufacture quality parts efficiently while meeting production schedules and throughput goals. Verify conformance of finished parts using precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques. Interpret and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and GD&T specifications to meet exact dimensional and tolerance requirements. Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and project managers to solve problems and improve machining processes and workflow. Safely operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment to move materials, parts, and tooling as needed. Use and maintain machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, shears, grinders, and other machining tools. Troubleshoot machining issues, including dimensional inaccuracies, surface finish problems, and equipment performance concerns. Maintain compliance with safety procedures, quality requirements, and shop standards at all times. Keep work areas clean, organized, and in good working order to support safe and efficient operations. Perform other duties as assigned to support production and shop objectives. Essential Skills 4-8 years of CNC machining experience in a machine shop environment, or completion of Journeyman papers plus 2 years of experience. Expert knowledge of CNC machining techniques and milling practices. Strong machinist math skills, including trigonometry and geometry. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and GD&T. Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot G‑code. Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Hands‑on experience operating CNC milling machines and related machine tools. Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment. Capability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, and lift up to 60 lbs unassisted. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating manual and CNC lathes, drill presses, shears, grinders, and other machining equipment. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for machining processes and equipment issues. Experience working in a collaborative machine shop environment with engineers and project teams. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality, precise components. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with shop standards. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Clairton, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60320.00 - $64480.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
